Lynn Bryant

Manteo, NC

Mrs. Lynn Stitzer Bryant, daughter of the late Ann and Charles Stitzer was born on October 5, 1949 in Richmond, VA and passed on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at home. She grew up in Richmond with two loving brothers, Leigh and Charlie, and sister, Jane. Her young life was filled with adventures at the beloved River House, playing with her neighbor buddy Sammy, serving as a drum majorette and class president, attending Mary Washington College and University of Virginia. She met her husband, Lindsey B. Bryant III, of 45 years in high school in 1963.  For over 54 years they were a dynamic team, proving that through life’s ups and downs that the bond of marriage and love can never be broken.

Lynn was the loving mother and best friend of her daughter, Carrie Bryant Woodard and the amazing MomMom to her beautiful grandson, Brody. Her love of life, compassion, kindness and zest for learning was passed on to her daughter and grandson as they continue to live her legacy day in and day out.

Lynn’s passion was to leave the world better than she found it, to make a difference and to help and empower others. She would want to be remembered for her role as Executive Director of the Outer Banks Hotline, her work to bring the Coastal Studies Institute to the Outer Banks, as well as her passion for teaching psychology to hundreds of students at COA.  The number of lives she touched are countless. Her impact on the community is immeasurable. She worked hard to ensure that those that didn’t have a voice, had an advocate – that the weak found a way to become strong – for those that wanted to grow and dream had a kind ear and warm heart to listen and encourage their desires. That impact, that love, that true gift will be so missed by all that knew her.

She leaves behind great memories to her extended family: Leigh and Kelly Stitzer (Chris & Adam), Charlie and Sara (Jackson and Alice), Jane and Larry Roos (Jamie, Rachel & Matthew), Janice and the late Bobby Hamil (Jennifer), Stanley and Lynn (Hunter, BJ and Rose) and Lisa and the late Timothy Fields (Melissa, Angela and Wayne), as well the many dear friends (SM) and others that made her life so full.

Her beautiful life will be celebrated daily by us all. Her wish would be that in her memory you volunteer to a community organization that helps those need. That you share a smile and kindness to someone else. That you step in and help when you see injustice. That you plant a tree or a rosebush in her honor. That you plan an adventure, make memories, live your life with honor, tenacity and grace. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
